I’m alive. I’m still here, still chugging along, but I just haven’t had an interest in writing as of late. I wish I could really say that I got too busy to write, or that I’d been having computer troubles, but honestly I just didn’t have anything to say.
Things are going fine here, for the most part. My new job is still going well, and though it’s had its ups and downs I’m largely enjoying it and I’m getting to know people at the firm. I’ve gone out for drinks with some of my coworkers a couple of times, and I’m still keeping in touch with my former coworkers. I’m still jogging, though I took a week off to help some shin splints heal, and then another week off to let the raw patch of skin the size of a silver dollar heal–brought on by the insoles I bought to help my shin splints, no less. Even after two weeks I can feel my endurance level has dropped, considering that two weeks ago before my shin splints got bad I did twelve and a half miles in three days without too much stress.
I hear from Erika once or twice a week, and it sounds like she’s having a great time. So great, as a matter of fact, that she’s doing it again next year and there’s a good possibility she won’t come back at all. So…there’s that to deal with, and since she’s gone for another four months still, there’s a long road ahead of me. Or us, whatever. That’s been occupying my mind a lot lately, needless to say.
Television is a great distraction, I’ve found. I enjoy occupying my time with other people’s problems for awhile. I made it through the first two seasons of “Scrubs” that I own on DVD, now I’m working my way through the third season that I…ahem…downloaded. I also watched the entire first season of the new “Doctor Who” series that the BBC is running, also downloaded. Fantastic show! I had heard it was good, but I don’t get the SciFi channel that’s running the episodes from last season. Next I think I might move on to the new “Battlestar Galactica” series that I downloaded and have heard is so good. I was pretty resistant to watching that show when it first came out because I was still bitter about the SciFi channel canceling “Farscape,” but I think I’ll give it a shot.
In any case, it’s 82 degrees out and the last place I want to be is sitting in front of my computer. So I’m going to go back into my living room where the fan is blowing and continue watching “Scrubs.”
Hope I don’t get back to you in another two months, but no guarantees.
