A boring Friday update. The update’s boring, not the Friday.

I realize that I’ve been awfully quiet lately, but it just boils down to me not having a whole lot to say. This past week my mind has been elsewhere, and despite my plans to the contrary I just never got around to writing. When you’re distracted by something else, you just can’t bring yourself to focus on anything too much.

This past weekend I went over to my Dad’s house and made my famous pizza, though I made a different kind this time around. I bought some nice Jimmy Dean pork sausage, fried it up with some rosemary and thyme, some nice Oregon mushrooms, some roasted garlic, and used on a couple of extra sauce, light cheese pizzas. Worked out quite well, if I may say so myself. The sauce was a little funky to my taste, but I’ve learned that while my Dad’s nice gas range is excellent for cooking at desired temperatures, the lowest setting on it is still hotter than the “Warm” setting on most electric ranges. The result then tends to be sauce that simmers for far too long and even burns a bit. I’ll just have to watch that carefully next time that happens.

The Oregon Megabucks lottery drawing is up to $23.8 million so I bought myself a couple of tickets. I figure that when I don’t win, at least my money will have gone towards something more worthwhile than what I would have spent it on otherwise. A good percentage of Oregon lottery dollars are invested back into the state through different programs; cash in my wallet is typically spent on Diet Coke. All I get out of that purchase is $0.05 and a bump to the solid caffeine levels already in my bloodstream.

I’ve been sitting in my office here at work this week with some different, lighting, and it’s made a good difference. Instead of sitting under the flickering lights of doom, I’ve been using two lamps to illuminate my office. I like the feel better. Softer lamp light is definitely preferable to a bright overhead light, and when I still lived at my Mom’s I rarely used the overhead light once I bought a nice floor lamp. I could illuminate my whole room with that lamp, and it was softer on my eyes to boot. I hope my boss doesn’t make me get rid of them, though. It’s not like I’m sitting in the dark, but I mentioned the idea awhile back and he didn’t seem receptive to the idea.

Meh, I don’t really have anything else to talk about.
