Sugar rush!

The weather outside is starting to get absolutely beautiful. I know that it’s not going to last because the weather in Oregon doesn’t get consistently sunny and warm until about June, but while it lasts, it’s very good to get a few days of 60 degree weather. It makes me want to take my chair outside into the quad at Beloit along with a bottle or two of fine beer and a couple of friends, and sit outside in the sun while either reading for class or just talking and laughing. Good times past, alas, and all I can do is improvise.

So the other night, my sister and I hightailed it over to the Rock Creek Tavern after she was done with work so we could sit outside and have a beer or two while the sun waned. Of course, since it’s only March as it waned it got a bit chilly and so we were forced inside. Still not a bad evening. Afterwards, I was still a bit peckish so I thought I’d swing by Krispey Kreme on the way home. Everything looked soooooo good as I stood there munching on the free, hot-off-the-line original glazed they gave me while I waited, and I just wanted to try a bunch of them. By the time I’d listed off a few that I wanted to try, it became more fiscally sound to purchase a dozen, instead, and so I had to pick out MORE than I actually wanted. I took them home and my Mom had three, and I had the rest. I felt so sick after that. It wasn’t from the sugar, but just from the amount of food. I’d had a couple of beers and a buffalo burger at Rock Creek, and then nine Krispey Creme doughnuts, too. Oooog. I remember that feeling…I don’t like that feeling. I don’t think I’ll be stuffing my craw with dougnuts again anytime soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention, last week when I went downtown to meet my Dad for lunch, as I was walking across Pioneer Square to get to my bank to deposit my paycheck, I got stopped by someone asking me if I’d like to be in a commerical. I was sort of blindsided by it so I said yes, and it turned out to be a commericial for Leif’s Auto Collision Center. Those of you who regularly read my website that don’t reside in the Portland area don’t know who this is, but anyone who lives around here is probably familiar with the name Leif Hanson. So I shook his hand, he did one of those faux-interview commericials, and I was one my merry way after signing a release. I doubt I’ll actually show up in any commericial since I looked kind of scruffy, but it was fun nonetheless. I also considered the fact that it might just have been a ruse for free advertising (you get “filmed” for a commercial and then tell all your friends about it including what was said), but I won’t know for awhile. Leif Hanson primarily advertises on the radio, so I’ll have to be listening in case of that, too.

Well today I’m going to try and do some work if I can get ahold of Martin, but otherwise I think I’ll probably just bum around, maybe jog this afternoon. Another exciting day for Andrew, naturally.

Okay, speak the truth: was any one of the other Krispy Kreme doughnuts as good as that first one hot off the roller??? I have had some of the other types (when Rachel’s roommate’s dad stopped by close to midnight with 2 dozen Krispy Kremes for us!!!) but my favorite is still the basic glazed, when hot.
