Ever have one of those days that just defies explanation, reason, and everythin g you know? Yeah, that wasn’t Tuesday. I literally had nothing to say so I didn’t say anything at all. Wednesdsay was much better. For some reason my sleep patterns got screwed up and I woke up at 11:30 yesterday morning, and so I had an especially short day. Wednesday night was the night my Mom, my sister, and I all went to “Stomp!” though, and so the day ended better than it began. Well, that is, if you figure losing half the day to sleep a BAD thing. I didn’t at the time, but I sure felt like I had a short day.

“Stomp!” is something that everyone should see once, mostly because it’s SO cool. That was actually the third time I’ve seen it, but to tell you the truth, I actually wasn’t lookign forward to seeing it again. When my Mom offered to get tickets, I quickly said yes, but as the date grew closer and closer for some reason I didn’t want to go. Weird. Anyhow, we went out to a nice dinner at the Rock Bottom Brewery downtown, I had some good beer, and then we went up to Keller Auditorium to wait for the show. My sister and I acted like total idiots and kept text messaging each other before the show (again, I sure hope that’s not extra costs that I keep racking up), but once it began, I remembered why I wanted tickets. SO cool. I can’t exactly expalin it, but it involves lots of ryhthm and “music” using everyday equipment, like brooms, sinks, garbage cans, tubes, pots and pans, lighters, etc. As I sat there watching, any apprehension I had about going to se eit again faded away as the show went on. They got their standard standing ovation at the end, and then I was sorry that it was over. Now I just have to wait until the NEXT time I see it.

Today was just as exciting, though. I left the house at about 10:30 this morning to meet my friend Katie downtown at Lloyd Center (”Oregon’s biggest mall!”) where we met for lunch and then a movie. She had to be somewhere at 4, though, so our choice of movies around the city was limited, and so I settled on seeing “28 Days Later” again, the zombie movie my sister and I saw a sneak preview of earlier in the summer. Good movie, for those of you who are looking for one, although it’s probably not as widespread anymore. Anyhow, I got some good Chinese food at the mall, plus a great movie.

After the movie, though, I had kind of an interesting experience. We walked around the mall for a bit but then decided to go outside in the sun, so we went to the park across the street to sit for a bit. We sat down on a bench, but Katie pointed out that there was a cell phone sitting on the bench. Someone apprently had sat there and then left their phone. I didn’t want someone to walk off with it, though, but I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with it. The phone eventually rang, and so I reluctantly answered it, said that no, I was not Dennis, but that I just had found his phone on a bench. Well Dennis was supposed to be in Tualatin at that very moment, though, so I didn’t know if I should take the phone with me and wait for him to call or what. Thankfully, Dennis himself called after a bit, asked where he’d left it, and said he was on his way. Disaster averted, for him at least.

So Dennis shows up, claims his phone, offers a reward (that I turned down, thank you very much), but then spends the next 20 minutes bending my ear about the Kingdom of God. I didn’t want to be impolite, of course, but we did have an interesting discussion. I mainly let him talk, though, since he had so much that he wanted to tell me. Oh well. I don’t want to tell you everything that we talked about, but it was an interesting point in my day nonetheless. It wasn’t quite the kind of situation where you can wave people off who try to do it to you on the street.

That was actually the high point in my day, if you look at the whole thing, though. I was supposed to meet my friend Mike for beers tonight, so I stopped by his workplace on the way home, arranged the time and place tonight, but he never showed. I waited for more than an hour, but I guess there was a miscommunication or some other calamity that prevented him from getting there. Eh, I had some good beer and a decent dinner by myself, though, but I hate eating in places alone.

So instead I went jogging after getting home, and now I’m all tuckered out. I haven’t been home much today, so I’m going to read a little more about the blackout on the eastern seaboard, watch some more TV, and then go to bed. Night all.
