Irony by the non-Alanis Morrisette definition.

Got a funny story for you.
One of my friends from Beloit, Leslie (who I know I’ve mentioned before, and, uh, if my pictures were up I’d point you towards a picture of her), dated a guy a couple of years ago. They dated for a long time, close to a year, until her boyfriend cheated on her with someone he was in a play with. Now the play this fall at Beloit was just cast, and Leslie and her ex-boyfriend (who she gets along with fine now, so they’re still friends) were cast as the leads playing a married couple, and in the play, he cheats on her with a character played by none other than the same girl he cheated on Leslie with. If that weren’t enough, my friend Ali plays Leslie’s therapist in the play, and Leslie and Ali were rooming together during the whole ordeal when Leslie and her boyfriend were breaking up. The true definition of irony, don’t you think? It’s a visiting director who’s running the play, so if he were in charge of casting he had no idea. What are the odds of something like that happening? Given the number of people I know tried out for the play, pretty high, I’d wager.
Last night I organized a huge stack of papers that were in my room: bank staements, paycheck stubs, papers, that sort of things. I put away the critical stuff in my filing box, recycled the rest. It’s so nice to get that out of the way. They had been piled there since May with more piling up all the time. I had just been stuffing them into a plastic bag, actually, but there’s only so much that thing can hold. It also reminded me that I have some more stuff in my room I can get rid of, all my old movies on VHS tapes that I now have on DVD. I have two choices: either auction them off individually on eBay or take them all down at once to place that sells used media like CDs and movies and see how much I can get for the lot. On eBay, some might go for a little amount and others big money, but all at once at a store I might get them all sold, making my headaches of shipping the tapes much easier. I have five eBay auctions that just ended and it’s sort of a hassle getting things organized as it is. I did get about $150 from all of them, which if I end up putting the money towards a new laptop like I said, is about 1/10 of the total amount I need. Well, I can probably get around $500 for my current laptop on eBay, so it’s really more like 1/7 of the amount I need. Too bad I don’t have that much more to sell, really. I’m sure I can dig stuff up to get rid of on my trek through the garage.
I followed my Dad’s advice and looked at the bus service that runs from Wilsonville to Salem to get to my job interview on Friday, and sure enough, it runs right to the capital building where I need to go, but alas, it’s a true commuter bus, and if I took the scheduled time to get me to the interview, I couldn’t get back for another six hours. That means I either call back and try and get an earlier time slot or I drive. If I can find the number again I might do the first one, but parking would probably be OK, too. FINDING a place to park near the capital building will be a hassle, though. Last time I was there it took me awhile to find a place, but there was a rally on the steps of the capital that day anyway, so things were a bit tight.
I found out about the play story from my friend Ali, who I got to talk to for about a half hour today. It was nice talking to her again. I spoke with her once or twice earlier in the summer, but not talking all the time means yuo get to catch up. She’s one of the few people who I miss from Beloit who’s still there. Her boyfriend plays in a band from the Chicago area, and they had a new CD just come out so they’re doing a national tour. I checked their website and the closest to POrtland they’re coming is Corvallis. If I can find someone to go with, I’d consider driving down for that, but I’d feel sort of weird going by myself. I know her boyfriend, but not that well. We’ve talked and hung out a few times, but not that often. It’s not until October, anyhow, so I’ve got a bit of time to figure it out.
Well, that’s about all I have for now. Going to finish up a few things around here with my eBay auctions, maybe play a game for a bit. Catch you all later.

My feet are finally all better. I can walk normally again!
