Games and more games. Sick of hearing about it yet?

I didn’t really have any plans for the day, and since I knew I’d be at my Dad’s tonight, I didn’t schedule a time in which to exercise, so that left my afternoon pretty much wide open. Plus y’know, it was pretty hot out today, and I don’t like jogging in hot weather since I don’t have anywhere to keep a water bottle when I jog. So with a huge open block of time, I thought I’d head back into the mystical land of Dereth in my online game and see if I could accomplish the quest that I’d been unable to do yesterday.
I started asking around to see if anyone wanted to help me out, and to make a long story short, I ended up trekking all around some parts of the game that I was very much not ready to go with a very high level character who for some reason wanted to help me finding some better equipment. I know that the details of the game aren’t really all that interesting to most of you, but that’s the second time that a high-level character has helped me out when I haven’t really asked them. The game is pretty good, the graphics are very nice, but I’ve been more impressed with the people playing it so far. I’ve had two experienced people now tell me that I should play because I’d make a good addition to their allegience halls. I’m not certain why they felt it necessary to take me under their wings, but heck, it was mighty nice of them.
I’m downloading the free trial of the game again now to see if it works on my laptop, although I think it won’t work that well. My desktop is much more powerful than my laptop, and while a new laptop that runs newer games would be nice, I don’t think it’s a cost that can be justified for what I do with my laptop now.
Anyone ever seen the movie “Dune”? It’s on TV right now, and man, what a spectacular story. The 1980’s version directed by David Lynch is a pretty good movie, but not as close to the book as purists would like, but it’s still a good movie. When I first consciously saw it (as in, saw it AND paid attention to it), I loved the story. When the Sci-Fi channel did its own production, I watched that, and that one is even better than the one that’s on TV right now. The Sci-Fi version is one of those stories where you get so attached the the characters and the story that you want to start it all over again just so you can stay with the same people. I think that’s a sign of a good story.
Who cares that it’s science fiction? That’ll teach people who think that sci-fi is all crap and all for geeks. Just ask Julie, she knows what I’m talking about. “Dune” can even suck in people who don’t dig sci-fi.
Back to “Dune.” Long live the fighters of Muad’Dib.

Hey now, “Signs” is a scary movie if you like GOOD scary movies, and not silly ones like “Urban Legends.”
