Bad phone, good food.

Apparently I can only get one kind of cell-phone service up at my Mom’s house here, and it doesn’t include the oft-mentioned “mMode” that AT&T hypes. I’m a member of AT&T Wireless’ so-called “mLife” program, but what’s the point if I can’t even acess the service? If I want to download any ringtones, I have to have access to the service, so I’ll have to go somewhere else to do it. How dumb is that? I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out if it’s a problem with my phone or with my service, and I’ve concluded that it’s my service.

Speaking of service, I was over at my sister’s house today working on her computer and I realized that I get zero service while over there. The interchange of Highway 26 and Highway 217, two of the buesy highways in the Portland area, and I can’t get service there? What the HELL am I paying for?

Note the nice transitions I’m using. Speaking of paying, I paid my first cell phone bill and my speeding ticket, coming to a total of $106. My cell phone plan is $29.99/month plus all the extra franchise and federal fees, but they charged me $51 since I enrolled in the middle of a billing cycle. And while I’m on the topic, I have yet to get my refund from the purchase of the phone itself, so I hope that’s coming soon. It doesn’t sound like much, but $50 is a lot to me right now. There’s something I’ve been wanting that costs $50, but I think I’ll hold off until my birthday for that. My expenses are pretty tight right now without going out and purchasing a new game for my computer.

The BBQ last night pretty well. I learned how to work a charcoal grill, something I’ve needed to do for a long time, and so I hope to put said knowledge to use again in the near future. My Dad tried to get me to make onion rings with my deep fryer last night for dinner, but I had a few thinbgs going against me. First of which was that I’ve never done it, and despite watching my Dad do it many times, I’ll need his hand-holding so I don’t mess it up. Plus I don’t have a recipe for the batter, which is just about the most important part. My friend Heather will be here in a little over a week and she’s requested beef cubelets, so we’ll probably do onion rings, as well. Maybe I’ll take my deep fryer over to my Dad’s on that night and we can have two of them going, one for beef cubelets and one for onion rings. Worth a shot.

So tomorrow I get to go back to exercising, which will feel nice after a big dinenr of beef last night. I only exercise four or five days a week, and then I take a couple of days off to let my body adjust. Working out seven days a week is just too tiring.

The redesign of the site has hit two snags: the first is that I can’t find the right files to allow for automatic thumbnail creation for my pictures, which will both save disk space on my web server’s hard drive and allow for easier page creation. The second is that I have to find a way to design a new page on my site and maintain the new motif. I’ll keep on working on them.

That’s all I have for now. I’m going to settle back and watch “The Rockford Files” that just came on and consider downloading the “Rockford Files” theme song to my phone as the ringtone when I actually GET that capability. Night, all.
