No more classes, no more books!
May 1, 2003
Whew! Well, I’m all done with classes. For. Ever. Well, unless I decide to go back to school at some point in the future, but for now, I’m completely done with classes. Of course, I’m not quite done with work, but you get the picture. I still have the final draft of my independent project and my final paper for my Econ Senior Sem class due on Monday, but I’ve got plenty of time to get through those. Today was technically a study day, but I had two of my classes, one from 9-11 and another from 1-3. I thought tha day would NEVER end, but thank goodness, it’s all over with. I have a list of things that I need to get accomplished in the next week or so, so it’s not like I don’t have ANYTHING to do. Heck no. Tomorrow I think I’ll head down to storage and get my boxes out and leave them at the end of the hallway so I’ll have them nearby and I don’t have to worry about if I’m forgetting anything. I also may clear out my big fridge and take that down to storage for the wonderful person who loaned it to me for the term, but I’ve got some stuff to get rid of before then. That gallon of Hawaiian Punch isn’t going anywhere without me….
I take great pride in recycling all my papers that I don’t need anymore at the end of the term. Not because I’m environmentally concious (which I am), but because I get to get rid of them. Woo! You know, looking around my room, I DO have a lot of stuff, but I think I’ll be able to get it all home one way or another. Some of it is going in the give and take box in the lounge (which will eventually end up at Goodwill once everyone’s gone), but a lot of it is going with me. I have these two big monitors on my desk, but since I have a box that’s in good shape for one of them, I think that’ll be able to get home via the good folks at UPS or FedEx. My computer, however, does not get that treatment. I get to haul that thing across the country with me. Why, you ask? Am I that desperate that I have to be near my computer at all times. Nope. I’ve got my laptop for that. The box is in HORRIBLE shape, and I have no packing material beyond what clothes I can stuff in there. Yeah, I think that’s coming in the car.
Today in ITS was “Student Appreciation Day” where they took an opportunity to honor those of us that have worked in ITS for so long. Normally they said they don’t do it–or at least haven’t for awhile–but they’re losing a few students this year, so they made some hot dogs and brought the soda and cookies for us. They even gave each of us a gift, which was very nice. Beloit has a deal with Dell for educational discounts on computers, and so they gave each of us a 16 MB USB memory key. If you haven’t seen them, it’s a small device that plugs into a USB port on a computer and acts like a mini hard drive, so you can transport files between computers much more easily than a floppy disk–bigger capacities, too. I have a 32 MB one already that I use to transport files between my desktop and laptop when I don’t want to hook up my network cables, and it’s perfect. The one they gave me, though smaller in capacity, is a smaller size, looks nicer, and has a cap that stays on. Great stuff. They’re very handy.
Well, that’s all I have to say for now, actually. I’m pretty tired. I had to get up early this morning due to my 9-11 class (and the presentation I had to give in it), so I’m pretty beat. I’ll leave you with this fact, however: this term of college I have written more papers than any other term of my schooling so far, both in number of papers written and number of pages. My last two weeks of school alone I’m turning in a single-spaced 32 page project, a 20 page paper, a 10 page paper, and a 12 page paper. Just in the last two weeks. Have a good weekend, all. I may go out and see X-Men 2 tomorrow, so perhaps I’ll drop in again and let you know how it was. See ya.

Was I supposed to read these for a class or something? Where did they come from, then?
