Just read for all the details.

It certainly has been an interesting week. I haven’t heard anything on the job front yet, but it’s been interesting nonetheless. Tuesday night my friend Meagan called me and asked for me to take her to the airport on Wednesday, so I get up, drive over to her cousin’s, and set out for the airport. As I’m driving downtown, I turn onto Burnside and cross over the bridge, and as I come to the first stop light, a motorcycle cop pulls up next to my car fairly close, so I roll down the window and hear what I didn’t want to hear: “Did you not see me motioning you over?” Oops. I had missed it because he’d been by the side of the road and passed him going a little too fast, and he’d clocked me at 52 in a 35 zone. Oops again. He did issue me a ticket, but I was in the lowest class of tickets, meaning I have a maximum fine of $109, which under Oregon’s new moving violation laws is pretty good. It’s the first time I’ve been pulled over in six years of driving, though, so I think if I plead “no contest” either in person or in a letter, I can get it reduced. I don’t mind paying the fine–after all, I did get busted–but it sure would be nice to pay less.
The job market, or at least applying in this job market, has been described by my friend Dan as a black hole: resumes go in, but they don’t come out. I’ve sent out maybe 25-30 applications in the last couple of weeks, but I have yet to hear back on a single one. I’m waiting to hear back from someone who took my resume down the street, but I’m thinking I probably won’t get that job.
Monday night was a nice Memorial Day/Welcome Back Andrew dinner, complete with beef cubelets and onion rings, which my Dad and I have dubbed a “double dip night” because we’re using the deep fryer for two different foods. That’s a lot of oil. Speaking of “Welcome Back,” I’ve finally put all my writings from my trip on my website. If you have some time, you can find them at this page on my site, which will be linked from the front page shortly, as well.
That’s all I have for now. I’ll write again later this week. Enjoy.

He’s back!
